2007 end of year report

Hi All, 2007 wasn’t the best year in Equine history in Australia, however Bendigo Pony Club did manage to achieve some milestones.
The inaugural Bendigo pony Club Equestrian Team Challenge was a great success. We joined the age of technology with our website up and running. The web site and email are now our main form of communication for our club, which stream lines the whole process.

The 50th anniversary celebration weekend was fantastic and so much fun. More than 120 attended the dinner and then as many again at the Donaldson Day rally. Our congratulations again to the Donaldson day High point winners…. The junior winner was Morgan-Rose Maud, the intermediate winner was Morgan Marshall and Britt Holmberg won the senior section.

The first weekend in May was the date for the state horse trials in grade one and 2 held at the Albury Equestrian centre. Tegan Tresize on Rocky and Britt Holmberg on Jack represented our club and our Zone. They did a great job, had lots of fun and Britt and Jack placed 4th in Grade 2

“C” certificates were held in July. Melissa Harvey, Georgie Jenkins & Ashleigh Glascott were all successful in obtaining their C . Well done girls. I’m very proud to announce that Ashleigh Glascott has been putting her time to good use during EI and has started work on her K. This is a fantastic goal to have and we all wish Ashleigh well with this. Anyone else who would like to do their K a copy of what is required is in our Club resource kit or from the PCAV web site.

We had big plans for more events and fund raising for the rest of 2007 and then came the last weekend in August and Equine influenza became a part of our lives. No matter what your involvement with horses EI has had a dreadful impact and made life difficult for us all.

However with continued good management and some good luck by mid 2008 we can hopefully put it all behind us. We are starting off the year with an extra rally on January 21st. This will be run in clinic format, so two sessions only and riders will be here for half the day. You need to register for this and a list is in the club rooms. Instructors are Rosemary Harris for dressage and Allan Mitchell for show jumping. Saddle Clubbers will ride from 10.00am until 12.00pm.
We have an Allan Mitchell& Deb Browell clinic at our grounds next Saturday. Details are on the notice board.

Lastly I would like to say some “thankyou’s”……. To the wonderful instructors who teach our kids at rallies….. Especially the regulars…. Deb Browell, Wayne Hurse, & Rosemary Harris. We are very grateful for their dedication and commitment to our riders.

A big thank you also to our sponsors for their support to our club… there is a list on the notice board and if you aren’t familiar with them please read the list and support their businesses.

Thank you to the hard working committee who voluntarily give their time to keep this club active and successful. Thanks also to every one who contributed in any way this year… by attending working bees , helping out or competing at competitions, mowing, weed killing cooking, fund raising. This club belongs to us all and if we all get in and do our bit we are a stronger club and it is our kids who will benefit. THANK YOU AND MERRY CHRISTMAS.
